Dr. Langdon Ithiel Marvin   1805 - 1869

     Dr. Langdon Ithiel Marvin was the son of David and Deborah (Baldwin) Marvin. He was born on June 26, 1805, in Woodbury, CT. He died January 31, 1869 in Northampton, Fulton Co., NY. He married Laura Beecher on May 14, 1828 (She was the daughter of Abraham and Lydia Day (Fuller)Beecher.  Dr. Marvin was a member of the New York Assembly in 1840. : Langdon served as a surgeon in the 87th reg't N. Y. Vols., in the Civil war He was a physician and served as a surgeon.

       He is buried in the Northampton Cemetery, Fulton County, NY alongside his wife, Laura Beecher Marvin.

   This wood frame house was built in 1815.  It was located on the Dyke Road (the road to the covered bridge).  In preparation for the flooding of the Sacandaga Valley, the house was moved south, near Cty. Hwy. 110.  In 1996, it was deemed unsafe and was burned by the local fire department.
   This photo was taken before it was moved.
